We’re pleased to share an important milestone for Thrix and Shabash (the company behind Thrix): we are now officially a certified carbon-neutral company.
As a business, we already operate with a relatively low environmental footprint. Our text recognition and automatic editing technologies don’t rely on energy- and water-intensive neural networks like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude, and we choose renewable energy sources where possible. We also keep emissions down through practical choices – we regularly work remotely, and we don’t fly unless it’s essential.
But ‘low’ isn’t the same as ‘zero’ – and we believe that responsibility doesn’t stop at being efficient. It means taking ownership of the emissions we do generate, however small, and doing something about them.
What this means
Becoming carbon neutral means that, in addition to minimizing carbon emissions associated with all aspects of our business, we have taken steps to offset them through verified environmental projects.
This certification has been achieved in partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, an organization that supports businesses in quantifying and offsetting their carbon impact through initiatives such as reforestation, renewable energy, and conservation projects.
Looking ahead
This isn’t a one-off initiative. As we continue developing new features for automatic reference editing, citation checking, and reference management, we’ll look for opportunities to reduce our environmental impact even further.
As always, we aim to be transparent about how we operate and the choices we make. If you have any questions about what this certification involves, feel free to get in touch. You can also verify our certification by contacting info@carbonneutralbritain.org and asking for confirmation about Shabash Ltd.
