New special style: Just add DOIs

We’ve introduced a new special style in Thrix: Just add DOIs.
This feature adds DOI links to references without changing anything else – perfect when you want to enhance documents without altering the existing formatting, punctuation, or structure.
What is a DOI?
A DOI (digital object identifier) is a persistent, unique ID used to identify academic publications, such as journal articles and research reports. DOIs provide a permanent link to the official version of a source, making it easy to verify and access scholarly work – even if a website or URL changes over time.
A typical DOI looks like this:
10.1038/s41586-020-2649-2
And when combined with the resolver at https://doi.org/, it becomes a clickable link:
https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-020-2649-2
How this style works
Thrix identifies all the parts of your references, looks them up on trusted databases Crossref and PubMed, and inserts DOI links wherever they’re available – while leaving all other formatting untouched.
A few notes
- Not every source has a DOI – books, older material, and some grey literature may not include one.
- Results depend on the quality of your references and the metadata returned by services like Crossref.
- All references in your document count toward your usage allowance, even if no DOI is found.
If you want to modernize legacy content or quickly add persistent links to verify sources online, this style makes it effortless – one click, and your reference list levels up.
